On March 19, after careful consideration and many preliminary steps, the Select Board issued a Declaration of Emergency outlining the decision to continue this until further notice. Click here for the full text. These steps are meant to allow the Town to marshal resources rapidly to limit and mitigate effects of the spread of COVID-19 and to protect townspeople.
As a practical matter:
Truro Residents should Shelter In Place. The Town has prohibited
- Public gatherings of more than 10 people until further notice (MA set this limit on 3/23/20)
- Consumption of food and/or alcohol at bars and restaurants until at least April 6, 2020
- School attendance until at least April 6, 2020
This is not a lockdown. It is acceptable to go shopping, pick-up from restaurants and other certified kitchens and pharmacies, take walks and engage in activities that ensure we can socially distance and minimize exposure and spread of COVID-19.
Only cooperation will ensure we do not have a lockdown, so please observe these requirements.
ALL TOWN FACILITIES ARE CLOSED TO THE PUBLIC EXCEPT:
- Public Safety Facility
- Transfer Station
These will operate as usual during this health emergency.

All non-regulatory committees are suspended until further notice. Likewise, the ZBA and the Planning Board are suspended until is it possible to hold public meetings.
