Susan Howe, esteemed community leader and great friend to all in Truro, was tragically killed last night in her home, allegedly by her son. This loss is devastating to her family and we express our sincerest condolences to the Howes as they grapple with its full impact on them.
At the same time, Susan was a remarkable human being – honest, sunny, spirited, smart, generous, and unwaveringly dedicated to the well being of our beloved Town. She was – and will remain for all of us at TPRTA – a beacon of kindness, civility, and openness. We cherished our long-term cooperation with her – it always resulted in good things for all.
Best known in Truro as the Chair of the Truro Historical Society, she led its resurgence in recent years as a vital and informative source for understanding Truro. She also served on many committees and boards, including the Walsh Committee and One Truro. She was especially committed to access for disabled persons in all public spaces and places.
As we lear more we will keep the community posted. We hope to participate in and support a community recognition effort worthy of this great soul.
